car edito tyre pressure small2 help and advice
Tires lose pressure due to natural causes (usually about 1 psi (0.076 bar) per month). Pressure can also be leaked due to:
• accidental tire puncture
• valve : must be replaced when tire is replaced
• valve head : essential component to ensure air does not leak.
• Wheels : should be cleaned whenever changing tires.
• Follow the advice of the vehicle or tire manufacturer, especially when it comes to the conditions of use (load / speed, etc.).
• Check the pressure when the tire is cool (the tire has not been used for 2 hours or runs less than 2 miles (3 km) at low speed).
• If the tire is hot, add 4-5 psi (0.3 bar) to the pressure value recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. Check again when the tires have cooled.
• Never deflate when the tires are hot.
• Even if the tire is pumped with nitrogen, the tension and overall condition of the tire must be checked regularly.
A tire that maintains the right pressure will help ensure your safety, save energy and protect the environment.
car edito tyre pressure small help and advice
If the tire is maintained at the correct pressure, you will reduce operating costs for the vehicle. The tire will become too hot to heat up, resulting in more fuel consumption and faster wear. Similarly, over-stretching tires will reduce tire life, reduce grip and cause steering control problems.
• TIRES
A 20% lower tire than the correct pressure level will reduce the mileage by 20%. This means that you have lost 5,000 miles (8,000 km) of the total possible distance of 25,000 miles (40,000 km).
• FUEL CONSUMPTION AND CO2 EMISSION
Tires will increase fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
